| Natasha & Jonathan | Wedding | 02.26.11 |

A true winter wedding!  About a week and a bit before Natasha and Jon’s wedding, we were discussing in an email what locations we would go to between their ceremony and reception.  In that email, Natasha had expressed that she really wanted snow on her wedding day.  Yeeeeeah…we weren’t so sure about that. Maybe if we went to Cypress , or Squamish , but that just wouldn’t be feasible with our time frame for the day.

The night before the wedding, I remember thinking it was REALLY cold out and maybe there would be a little snow at Westwood Plateau ?  Maybe we would have a little luck!?  So, we all know how Saturday, February 26th was!  I couldn’t believe it.  Talk about God answering prayers!

The beautiful ceremony was held at the First United Mennonite Church and their reception at Westwood Plateau.  Our 3 hours of shooting time in between turned to a whopping hour since the snow slowed down traffic, especially up to SFU and to Westwood.  Gotta take what you can get!

It was a cold day, but that didn’t stop anyone from having fun.  We really have to thank Natasha and Jon and their trooper friends in their wedding party for putting up with the freezing cold.  Dan, our super assistant Julian and I were all bundled up, and they….weren’t ;p!

Enjoy some of our favourites of the day!

Jon seeing his bride for the first time! Natasha is a crier!  We got some great expressions from her! While Natasha and Jon signed their marriage licence, they had a friend play an acoustic Jack Johnson song…lovely! Woohoo!  Don’t they look warm!!! Stunning, Natasha! The snow was really quite beautiful despite how cold it was! Westwood Plateau was wonderfully decorated by the amazing Wedding Design Studio team, they always work their magic!  I’m always happy to see a candy bar too!  What an array of tasty assortments! While I was grabbing some details in the reception hall and nibbling on some jelly bellies, Dan and Julian continued to do some creatives with the newlyweds around Westwood.  Love them! Their guests were entertained some more with lovely acoustic guitar music Some great speeches were made.  I think I mentioned this in another wedding post, but sometimes, speeches are actually a favourite of mine because that’s when we learn so much about our couple that we wouldn’t have known otherwise.  They can be very emotional as well, and that makes from awesome expressive images!

What a day!  Not easy for either side, photographers and wedding party, to be in such cold weather, but everyone made it work.  Our first wedding to kick off our season, and we couldn’t have asked for a better bunch!

Thanks for taking time to read through, for more photos, please check out Natasha & Jon’s slide show below!

Cheers,

| Vegas Baby | WPPI |

Hey all!

Long time no bloggin’. We haven’t been just hanging out and enjoying married life (okay maybe a little). Since our wedding, we’ve had copious amounts of meetings and have been booking heavily for 2011 and 2012. Then we were inVegas (our first time ever!) for WPPI in the middle of February!

For those who aren’t familiar with WPPI, it’s an annual wedding and portrait photography convention held in Vegas, and this year there were over 16,000 photographers from around the world!  That’s incredible!  We were there to learn from top notch photographers in the industry, and be inspired to take our business to the next level.

Hope you all enjoy a little tie-you-over blog of our Vegas adventure. We learned a lot and walked a lot and ate a lot… ummm… ever been to the “ Hash House A Go Go “?  Next time you’re in Vegas, be sure to check it out!   Waffles and fried chicken!?!  Whoa!

Just a few quick snaps walking around town. We had never been to Vegas and didn’t realize that “across the street” is like a 20 minute venture…

Aside from a great deal of learning that was done from speakers like Becker , Mike Larson , Jerry Ghonis , JVS … we checked out the trade show and found lots of great new products for the upcoming season!  Oh, and we found some time to seriously clown about on the strip. Okay, check out that burger (bottom left)… it was like the size of Kat’s head… that’s what Dan ate, the server actually said, “We don’t really expect you to finish.”  Kat’s plate of hash (FYI ‘hash’ is a southern meal of sorts) wasn’t any smaller…. Hahaha, Dan finished his and then ate a third of Kat’s meal too….. right before the plane ride home too :( What a wicked time!  We’re already looking forward to next year and not staying at a hotel that’s a 25 min walk away from the convention with 8am classes every morning ;)
