We met Tara and Thomas near the end of the Canucks’ run for the cup. They walked into our place decked out in Canucks jerseys and my favorite, Tara’s Canuck manicure. Die hard fans!! While chatting about details of their 2012 wedding and of the different packages we have, they mentioned an idea for their engagement session. A carnival themed shoot. Ding Ding Ding! I know for sure Dan was excited as I was and we started planning it right away!
Tara’s aunt is a vendor at the PNE, so when Playland opened up this summer, we planned a day to venture out. It happened to be an especially busy day…it was PACKED!! I have to say, this was one of the most challenging shoots we have ever done due to just the sheer amount of people around us and all the sounds and music of the rides and games. As busy as it was, we all managed to run into people we knew! Tara ran into her cousins; we ran into our photo teachers from Langara, Audra, and a friend of mine I haven’t seen in 10 years!
Tara and Thomas are really cute to photograph! Though it was a fast paced environment with people running around everywhere, Tara and Thomas were great in front of the camera as everyone walked by watching. They went on a few rides here and there, the scariest one of course being that old wooden roller coaster! The plan: Dan in front of Tara and Thomas photographing them, me behind Tara and Thomas lighting them with a speed light. We were almost near the front of the line when I decided last minute that I probably couldn’t handle the ride, so our super awesome assistant Julian took over. Thanks man!
We apologize to Tara and Thomas for not being able to work on their session as soon as it was photographed…it has been a very busy season for us! Sorry to keep you guys anxiously waiting! Here are our top favorites, enjoy!
